Material Overview

Color is built in, not painted on

Mimaki's 3D inks are pigmented, UV-curable acrylic resins jetted in fine droplets and cured instantly by UV-LED, layer by layer. Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black, White and Clear combine during the print to produce more than 10 million colors — with smooth gradients and true-to-file color thanks to ICC profile support carried over from Mimaki's decades in 2D inkjet.

Every job prints alongside a water-soluble support material, so complex geometry, internal cavities and delicate details come out clean. Finished parts have hardness comparable to ABS and can be drilled, coated or painted like standard plastics.

How It Works

From CAD file to finished color part

Jet

Color modeling ink and support ink are printed simultaneously from inkjet heads, following the sliced data of your 3D model.

Cure

Each layer is cured instantly by UV-LED light, then the table lowers and the next layer is stacked on top.

Rinse

Soak the finished build in water to dissolve the support material — no cutting, breaking or support scarring.

Key Material Properties

Why Mimaki 3D inks

Photorealistic Color

CMYK + White + Clear deliver 10M+ colors with ICC-profile color matching for predictable results.

Clear & Translucent

Jet Clear on its own or blend it with color for transparent windows, housings and glass-like effects.

ABS-Like Hardness

Acrylic resin parts are rigid enough to drill, coat and finish like standard plastic components.

Water-Soluble Support

Support rinses away in water, protecting fine details and leaving a clean, smooth surface.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Which printers are these inks for?

The inks on this page are made for Mimaki's full-color 3D printers: the 3DUJ-553 and the compact 3DUJ-2207. Both use MH-100 modeling ink, but bottle sizes and support material differ — see the compatibility guide above.

What's the difference between SW-100 and SW-110 support ink?

SW-100 is the support material for the 3DUJ-553 and comes in a 4.8L bottle. SW-110 is the support material for the 3DUJ-2207 and comes in a 1L bottle. Both are water-soluble.

What is MH-110 Pure Clear, and how is it different from MH-100 Clear?

MH-110 Pure Clear is a separate modeling ink offered for the 3DUJ-553 in a 4.8L bottle, alongside the standard MH-100 Clear. Not sure which clear is right for your application? Talk to one of our experts.

How is the support material removed?

Soak the finished model in water and the support dissolves away. There's no cutting or breaking off supports, so fine details and fragile features stay intact.

Can finished parts be post-processed?

Yes. The cured acrylic resin has hardness comparable to ABS, so parts can be drilled, coated or painted like standard plastic components.

What file formats can I print from?

Both printers accept STL, OBJ, VRML, PLY and 3MF files, prepared in Mimaki's 3D Link layout software.
